BEAUMONT, TX – Beaumont police have launched an investigation after the body of a deceased man was discovered in a canal along Interstate 10 on Friday evening.
Discovery in the Canal
Beaumont Police Department officers responded to the 2900 block of I-10 South at approximately 5:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a deceased person in the area.
Upon arrival, officers located the body of an adult male in the canal. According to authorities, the body was found in an advanced stage of decomposition, indicating it had been there for some time.
Multi-Agency Response
Due to the location and nature of the scene, a large emergency presence was required. The Beaumont Fire Department and their specialized dive team responded to assist with retrieving the body from the water.
Detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division and the Crime Scene Unit also arrived to secure the area and collect potential evidence.
Investigation and Public Appeal
As of Saturday morning, authorities have not released the identity of the deceased man. The exact cause and manner of death remain unknown pending an autopsy report.
