Knoxville, Tennessee — A Tennessee teenager is facing serious criminal charges after authorities say he struck a motorcyclist with his vehicle, left the scene without reporting the crash, and later attempted to conceal evidence connected to the fatal collision.
The incident occurred Thursday night in Knox County, just west of Knoxville, and ultimately led investigators to a residence where family members reportedly helped police piece together what happened.
Fatal Crash Reported at Busy Intersection
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 9 p.m. near the intersection of Dutchtown Road and Bob Kirby Road in the Cedar Bluff area.
Investigators allege that Anderson Josuan Perdomo Escobar, 19, was driving a Nissan Altima when he collided with a motorcyclist traveling on the roadway.
Emergency responders transported the injured rider to a local hospital, but the victim later died from injuries sustained in the crash. Authorities have not publicly released the victim’s identity.
Officials say the driver did not remain at the scene to assist or notify emergency personnel.
Investigators Tracked Vehicle to Suspect’s Home
As detectives worked to identify the vehicle involved, evidence reportedly pointed to a Nissan Altima believed to have been connected to the collision.
Investigators eventually traced the vehicle to Perdomo Escobar’s residence, where the case took an unexpected turn.
According to reports, family members showed officers surveillance footage allegedly capturing the suspect arriving home after the crash with visible damage to the vehicle.
The video reportedly showed him removing the vehicle’s license plate and moving the car to a different location beside the home.
Those actions became a key part of the investigation and contributed to additional charges being filed.
Family Video Allegedly Revealed Effort to Conceal Evidence
Authorities say the footage provided valuable insight into what happened after the collision.
Investigators allege the suspect attempted to hide evidence by altering the vehicle’s appearance and positioning it away from immediate view.
The evidence reportedly helped officers establish a timeline of events following the deadly crash.
Police later interviewed Perdomo Escobar, who allegedly acknowledged being involved in the collision.
According to investigators, he told officers he left the scene because he was scared.
Multiple Criminal Charges Filed
Following the investigation, authorities charged Perdomo Escobar with:
- Leaving the scene of an accident knowing death resulted
- Tampering with evidence
- Driving without a license
Jail records reviewed by multiple outlets also indicate that he is being held for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Investigation Continues Following Victim’s Death
The fatal crash has renewed attention on the consequences of leaving the scene of serious accidents and the responsibilities drivers have when collisions occur.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the victim or whether further charges could be filed as the case moves through the court system.
For now, investigators say evidence collected from the crash scene, the damaged vehicle, and video footage obtained during the investigation played a significant role in identifying the suspect and building the case against him.
