Driver Killed In Southbound Highway 101 Rollover Crash

MILLBRAE, CA – A driver died Thursday evening after being ejected from a vehicle during a violent multi-car rollover crash on Highway 101 in Millbrae.

The Fatal Crash

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports of a severe collision around 7:00 p.m. on southbound Highway 101 at Millbrae Avenue.

Witnesses told officers that a white Toyota Camry had overturned multiple times during the incident. Upon arrival, emergency crews found the male driver lying in the roadway with major injuries. He was rushed to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Seatbelt and Investigation Details

A preliminary investigation by the CHP determined that the driver of the Camry was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, which likely led to his ejection from the vehicle.

Authorities confirmed that a second vehicle was also involved in the collision. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the occupants of that second vehicle.

Major Traffic Gridlock

The aftermath of the crash caused severe traffic delays for commuters on Thursday night. Crews shut down three lanes of southbound Highway 101 for an extended period to allow officers to investigate the scene and clear the wreckage.

The identity of the driver has not yet been released pending family notification.
