Fatal Police Shooting In Northampton Follows Violent Domestic Dispute

NORTHAMPTON, NY – A chaotic domestic situation turned fatal Sunday afternoon in Northampton after Southampton Town Police officers shot and killed a man armed with a knife.

The Incident

The confrontation began around 2:40 PM when patrol units were dispatched to a residence in the area of Topping Drive. According to Suffolk County authorities, officers were responding to reports of an “escalating violent domestic situation.”

Upon arrival, officers encountered a man armed with a knife. Details regarding the exact sequence of events leading to the discharge of weapons have not yet been fully released, but the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

Injuries and Hospitalizations

A woman involved in the initial domestic dispute was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Additionally, three Southampton Town Police officers were taken to a medical facility for treatment; they have since been released.
