‘Wash the Sins Out’: Roommate Allegedly Tries to Push 5-Year-Old From Window, Then Attempts to Drown Family

A disturbing incident in Pennsylvania has left a community shaken after a mother’s roommate allegedly attempted to harm her young children in a shocking sequence of events.

According to police, 40-year-old Vira Zabudko has been charged after an alleged attack involving a 5-year-old child and his mother. The situation unfolded when the mother briefly stepped out and asked her roommate to watch her two sons, aged 5 and 11.

What Happened Inside the Apartment

When the mother returned, things immediately felt wrong.

Police say the roommate refused to let her enter the apartment at first. Once the mother managed to get inside, she was confronted with a horrifying scene — Zabudko allegedly trying to force the 5-year-old out of a third-story window through the screen.

A struggle broke out as the mother rushed to stop her.

Disturbing Turn in the Bathroom

The situation escalated further when Zabudko allegedly told the child to go into the bathroom to “wash the sins out,” claiming he was “dirty.”

Authorities say she then attempted to force both the child and the mother into the shower. In a terrifying moment, she allegedly dunked their heads underwater in the bathtub.

Despite the chaos, the mother managed to fight back and escape the apartment with both of her children.

Aftermath and Police Action

When police arrived, they found the mother and her sons soaking wet but alive. Thankfully, no visible injuries were reported at the time.

Zabudko was later arrested and charged with:

  • Aggravated assault
  • Unlawful restraint (two counts)
  • Recklessly endangering another person (two counts)
  • Simple assault

She was taken into custody, later posted bond, and has been ordered to have no contact with the mother or her children.

What Happens Next

Authorities have indicated that the investigation is still ongoing, and additional charges may be filed depending on further findings.

Zabudko is scheduled to appear in court on April 9.

A Close Call That Could Have Been Worse

This incident serves as a chilling reminder of how quickly a seemingly routine situation can turn dangerous. Thanks to the mother’s quick actions, what could have ended in tragedy instead became a story of survival.
