SOUTH JERSEY – A brutal summer heat wave will hold its grip on the region through the weekend, bringing soaring temperatures, high humidity, and the threat of isolated severe thunderstorms.
Humid Weekend Outlook
Saturday will bring intense heat as temperatures climb into the mid-90s. High humidity levels will make it feel much worse, with heat indices expected to push into the upper 90s.
As the daytime heat builds, residents should prepare for isolated thunderstorms starting early Saturday evening and lasting through the overnight hours.
Sunday Relief and Extended Forecast
Sunday will kick off with a lingering chance of widely scattered showers and storms, particularly across South Jersey communities. However, skies will clear to mostly sunny by afternoon, keeping conditions hot with highs hovering around 90 degrees.
A welcome break from the oppressive heat arrives early next week:
- Monday: Mostly sunny, breezy, and much cooler with comfortable highs in the lower 80s.
- Tuesday: Partly cloudy and warm, reaching the mid-80s.
- Wednesday: Humidity returns with highs remaining in the mid-80s.
Next Heat Wave Arriving Thursday
The relief will be short-lived. Forecasters warn that another heat wave is projected to begin on Thursday. Temperatures will bounce back to around 90 degrees, accompanied by heavy humidity and a slight chance of afternoon pop-up thunderstorms.
Residents are urged to practice heat safety, stay hydrated, and check on vulnerable neighbors during peak afternoon hours.
