I-80 Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest of Three Suspects in Omaha ATM Robbery

Three people accused of carrying out an ATM robbery in Omaha were arrested Wednesday after a routine traffic stop along Interstate 80 in Lancaster County, according to law enforcement officials.

A deputy with the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office stopped a Nissan Altima around 2 p.m. near 56th Street and I-80 for unsafe passing and changing multiple lanes. During the stop, the deputy detected the smell of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle, which had three occupants.

Authorities said the driver, Jacob Wallace, 22, consented to a search of the car. During that search, deputies discovered three backpacks containing approximately $140,000 in cash, raising immediate suspicion about the source of the money.

Investigation Connects Traffic Stop to ATM Robbery

As deputies continued investigating at the scene, they learned that one of the passengers had an outstanding theft warrant out of Texas. Further inquiry revealed that all three occupants were allegedly connected to an ATM robbery in Omaha that had occurred earlier the same day.

Wallace and his two passengers — Kendris Boston Jr., 21, and Kaleb Tshibangu, 25, both from Texas — were taken into custody and booked into the Lancaster County Jail on possession of stolen property charges.

Additional Warrants Issued by Omaha Authorities

On Friday, law enforcement confirmed that robbery warrants issued out of Omaha were formally served on all three suspects. Authorities said the men are expected to be transported to Omaha at a later date to face additional charges related to the ATM robbery.

Officials have not released further details about how the ATM robbery was carried out or whether additional suspects may be involved. The investigation remains ongoing.
