Illinois Community Shocked as New Dig Begins in Teen Girl’s 10-Year Disappearance Case

SOUTH ELGIN, IL – Ten years after 17-year-old Kianna Galvin vanished without a trace, authorities have launched a massive forensic excavation at a local residence, sparked by new technological leads.

Anomalies Found Beneath Revere Road Property

On May 7, 2026, investigators began digging at a home on the 800 block of Revere Road in South Elgin. The decision to excavate came after ground-penetrating radar identified “anomalies” beneath the surface that detectives believe warrant a thorough search.

Kianna was last seen on May 6, 2016, after telling her sister she was heading to Jim Henson Park. She never returned, leaving behind her purse and wallet.

Key Witness Accounts

A neighbor recently reported seeing Kianna enter the Revere Road home on the day she disappeared, noting that he never saw her leave. At that time, a friend of the teenager reportedly lived at the residence, though that individual has since moved.

“We have not forgotten Kianna,” stated Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser. “Ten years have passed, and the weight of that loss is still deeply felt by this entire community.”

Case Details and Description

Kianna, who would now be 23 years old, is described as:

  • Height/Weight: 5’6″ and 150 lbs.
  • Distinguishing Marks: Nose and navel piercings; a heart and cross tattoo on her left wrist.
  • Last Seen Wearing: Black tank top, black yoga pants with studs, and Nike zebra print flip flops.
