CYPRESS PARK, CA – A massive car enthusiast gathering inside the concrete basin of the Los Angeles River came to a sudden halt Sunday evening after Los Angeles Police Department officers moved in, citing attendees for trespassing and towing dozens of vehicles.
Police Intervene At Large Gathering
More than 100 sports cars, trucks, and motorcycles had assembled in the riverbed near San Fernando Road for what participants described as an informal, routine meetup.
The gathering was interrupted when LAPD officers arrived and informed the crowd that they were trespassing on restricted property. Aerial footage captured a long line of high-performance vehicles being escorted out of the river channel, where a fleet of tow trucks was waiting.
Mass Towing And Citations
According to attendees, the police response was swift and extensive. While drivers insisted the event was peaceful and free of reckless driving, authorities heavily enforced the trespassing violation.
- Vehicles Impounded: Attendees estimate that more than 50 vehicles and motorcycles were towed and impounded.
- Detentions: Several drivers were seen receiving citations, and some individuals were briefly placed in handcuffs, though no official arrests were reported by Sunday night.
Alexander Pimienta, a motorcycle owner whose vehicle was impounded, expressed frustration, stating that a trespassing sign was present in the area but was incredibly difficult to see and read.

While the iconic Los Angeles River has long been a popular backdrop for automotive photography, the majority of the concrete channel remains restricted. Local agencies restrict access due to safety concerns and to protect critical flood-control infrastructure.
The LAPD has not yet released the official number of citations issued or confirmed what specific complaint triggered the large-scale operation.
