Two Dead In Apparent Johns Creek Murder-Suicide

JOHNS CREEK, GA – A man and a woman are dead following an apparent murder-suicide at a home on North Hillbrooke Trace on Sunday night, according to the Johns Creek Police Department.

The 911 Call

The incident came to light around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, when a child called 911 to report that his parents were involved in a severe domestic dispute.

When officers arrived at the residence in the northern Atlanta suburb, they found three boys—ages 17, 13, and 12—outside the home. One of the children informed police that the argument between their parents had escalated into a shooting.

Police Findings

Inside the home, authorities discovered the bodies of Richard Holladay, 52, and Martha Holladay, 43. Both had suffered fatal gunshot wounds.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Martha Holladay died from a gunshot wound to the head, and Richard Holladay died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Detectives believe Richard shot and killed Martha before turning the gun on himself.

Ongoing Investigation

Police confirmed that the couple’s children are safe and next of kin have been notified. Prior to Sunday night, authorities had never been called to an incident at that specific residence.

While the investigation is in its early stages, officials emphasized that this was an isolated domestic incident and there is no ongoing threat to the public.
