LAS VEGAS, NV — A month-long multi-state manhunt has ended with the extradition of an 18-year-old suspect back to the Las Vegas valley to face a murder charge. Authorities confirmed that Bobby Warren is now in custody in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred during a house party in early March.
The incident, which shattered the peace of a southwest Las Vegas neighborhood, highlights a disturbing trend of escalating violence among young adults in the region.
The Night of the Incident: A Fatal Confrontation
The shooting took place on the night of March 11 in the 4300 block of Brookhaven Drive, a residential area located near the busy intersection of Flamingo Road and S. Jones Boulevard.
According to detectives from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD), the atmosphere at a local house party turned deadly following a “brief verbal exchange.” Witnesses told police that the victim—whose identity is still being withheld pending family notification—had walked out of the party to approach a group standing outside.
Within moments, the verbal dispute turned into gunfire. The victim was struck and later succumbed to his injuries, marking another tragic loss of life in the community.
The Manhunt and Arrest
Following the shooting, the suspect, identified as Bobby Warren, reportedly fled the state. The LVMPD’s investigation quickly pointed toward Warren, leading to a warrant for his arrest.
The search led authorities to Sacramento, California, where Warren was located and apprehended on March 27. After a brief legal process for extradition, he was transported back to Southern Nevada on April 12 to face the judicial system in Clark County.
Current Legal Charges and Court Proceedings
Warren is currently being held at the Clark County Detention Center. He faces two significant charges:
- Open Murder: A charge that allows a jury to determine the degree of murder (first or second) based on the evidence presented.
- Carrying a Concealed Weapon Without a Permit: A felony charge related to the firearm used in the crime.
While jail records do not specify Warren’s permanent place of residence, he is scheduled to appear for a preliminary hearing on April 27. This hearing will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
Community Concerns over Neighborhood Safety
The shooting on Brookhaven Drive has left residents of the southwest valley on edge. House parties that spiral out of control have become a point of concern for Metro police, who often urge residents to report large, unauthorized gatherings before they escalate.
Detectives are still asking anyone with information about the March 11 incident to come forward. Tips can be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers of Nevada.
