Local Weather Alert: Chilly Midweek Dip Before a Warm Weekend Surge

Local Weather Alert Chilly Midweek Dip Before a Warm Weekend Surge

NC — Residents are waking up to a crisp shift in the air this morning as a quiet cold front prepares to sweep through the region, bringing a brief taste of winter before a significant warm-up takes hold.

After a refreshingly cool Monday with highs only reaching the 60s, Tuesday is expected to follow a similar pattern. However, the real change arrives Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.

The Midweek Chill

As the front slides through, winds will shift to the north and pick up speed. This will send temperatures tumbling into the 30s by Wednesday morning. Those living north of the Triangle area should be on the lookout for patchy frost, so it may be time to protect any sensitive outdoor plants.

Wednesday will remain the coolest day of the week, with a high of only 62°F despite the sunshine.

A Stunning Weekend Ahead

The chilly air won’t linger for long. A noticeable warming trend kicks off on Thursday, with temperatures climbing back into the 70s. By the time the weekend arrives, the forecast looks nearly perfect for outdoor plans:

  • Saturday & Sunday: Expect highs in the low 80s with zero chance of rain.
  • Conditions: Plenty of sunshine and clear skies are expected through Sunday evening.

Early Taste of Summer

Looking ahead to next week, the region is set to skip right past spring and head straight into summer-like conditions. Highs are projected to reach the mid-to-upper 80s by Monday and Tuesday, with overnight lows staying comfortably in the 60s.

While the dry stretch is great for weekend travelers and local events, the Climate Prediction Center notes that we are entering a pattern of below-average rainfall. With no widespread rain in the 8-to-14-day outlook, local gardens and lawns may soon need some extra attention.

Detailed 3-Day Forecast
