FONDA, NY – In a bizarre turn of events, a Hagaman man who arrived at the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to pick up a friend being released on a DWI charge ended up behind bars for the exact same offense.
Restricted Parking Draws Attention
The incident occurred on Saturday, May 16, when 25-year-old Antone M. Glionna drove to the sheriff’s facility. Instead of parking in the designated public lot, Glionna drove his vehicle straight into a restricted area of the property.
The unauthorized parking job immediately drew the attention of a nearby deputy sheriff, who approached the vehicle and quickly suspected that Glionna was intoxicated.
Failed Sobriety Tests and Revoked License
Deputies on the scene administered standardized field sobriety tests, which Glionna failed. He was immediately placed under arrest.
A subsequent Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) records check revealed that Glionna’s driver’s license was already revoked due to a prior DWI-related conviction and a previous chemical test refusal.
Multiple Charges Filed
Glionna now faces several serious charges, including:
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation (1st Degree): A Class E felony.
- Driving with a BAC of 0.08% or Higher: An unclassified misdemeanor.
- DWI (First Offense): An unclassified misdemeanor.
- Unlicensed Operator: A traffic infraction.
Following his booking, Glionna was released to a sober third party—though authorities did not specify if his original friend was still waiting. He is scheduled to appear in Glen Town Court at a later date.
