New York Restaurants Rename Philly Cheesesteaks Amid Knicks-Sixers Rivalry

NEW YORK, NY – The heated playoff rivalry between the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers has officially moved from the basketball court to the kitchen. Restaurants across the five boroughs are taking a stand by scrubbing the word “Philly” from their menus.

“New York or Nowhere”

At G’s Cheesesteaks on the Lower East Side, the traditional Philadelphia-style sandwich has been rebranded as the “Knicks steak.”

Giacomo Pisano, CEO of G’s Cheesesteaks and a native New Yorker, says the move reflects city pride. While acknowledging that Philadelphia may have invented the cheesesteak, Pisano claims New Yorkers have “perfected” it.

Free Food If Knicks Sweep

The stakes are high for local fans. Pisano has announced that if the Knicks manage to sweep the series against the 76ers, he will offer free cheesesteaks at every G’s location.

Regional Trend Spreads to Long Island

The trend isn’t limited to Manhattan. On Long Island, local favorites like Dario’s are also participating in the menu overhaul. Some establishments have even opted for more “colorful” or NSFW edits to their menus to show their disdain for the Philadelphia rivals.

Despite the name changes, demand is skyrocketing. The owner of Dario’s reported expecting to sell hundreds of the rebranded sandwiches by Wednesday evening alone.
