LARIMER COUNTY, CO – A high-speed pursuit on Interstate 25 ended with the arrest of a well-known automotive personality after state troopers intercepted a heavily modified vehicle disguised as a police cruiser.
High-Speed Chase on I-25
Northern Colorado Highway Patrol deputies clocked an inconspicuous black Ford sedan traveling at 130 mph—more than double the posted speed limit—on Interstate 25.
Multiple highway patrol units deployed to stop the vehicle. Despite police efforts, the sedan initially managed to pull away from pursuing cruisers before troopers successfully forced the vehicle to a stop and detained its two occupants.
Disguised as a Law Enforcement Vehicle
Upon inspecting the Ford sedan, officers discovered it had been extensively modified to mimic an undercover police cruiser. The vehicle was outfitted with several illegal countermeasures designed to evade law enforcement, including:
- A functional signal jammer
- A “kill switch” to instantly extinguish all vehicle exterior lights
- A mechanical license plate cover to hide the registration
Authorities quickly identified the vehicle as a custom build engineered specifically for the “Cannonball Run”—an infamous, illegal coast-to-coast endurance drive.
Notorious Automotive Personality Identified
The driver was identified as Gregg Barclay, a figure well-known within the automotive community. In 2024, Barclay gained notoriety after appearing on the popular VinWiki YouTube channel to openly discuss modifying a Ford Taurus SHO for cross-country racing.
His passenger, David Bandler, was also arrested. Investigators uncovered evidence inside the vehicle indicating that Bandler was actively monitoring police frequencies and attempting to warn other drivers about law enforcement presence in the area. Both men now face multiple criminal charges in Colorado.
