NYC Confirms Fifth Measles Case; Possible Exposure At Manhattan Restaurant

NEW YORK, NY – New York City health officials have confirmed the fifth case of measles in the five boroughs this year, tracing a possible exposure site to a popular Midtown restaurant.

Norma Gastronomia Siciliana, located in Hell’s Kitchen, notified the public that an infected individual visited the restaurant on April 25 between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. While there is no ongoing risk at the establishment, officials are working to identify others who may have been exposed.

Vaccination and Symptoms NYC recorded 20 cases in 2025, but high vaccination coverage usually prevents large-scale outbreaks. Health experts remind residents that individuals are contagious for four days before the characteristic rash appears.

The MMR vaccine remains the most effective defense against the virus, which is spread through coughing, sneezing, and respiratory droplets.
