One Dead, Three Injured In Multi-Vehicle Hawthorne Crash

HAWTHORNE, CA – One person has died and three others remain injured following a violent four-vehicle collision at a busy Hawthorne intersection late Sunday morning.

The Collision

According to the Hawthorne Police Department, the multi-vehicle wreck occurred at approximately 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Imperial Highway and Inglewood Avenue.

Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered four badly damaged vehicles and multiple victims scattered at the scene.

Emergency Extrication and Hospitalization

The impact of the crash was severe enough that Los Angeles County Fire Department personnel had to use specialized equipment to extricate two individuals who were trapped inside one of the wreckage sites.

Four victims were rushed to a local hospital, including two who were listed in extremely critical condition. Authorities later confirmed that one of those critically injured individuals succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.

Investigation Underway

The Hawthorne Police Department’s Traffic Bureau has launched a full investigation into what caused the chain-reaction crash. It is currently unclear if speed, weather, or mechanical failure played a role.
