CHICAGO, IL – A violent afternoon shooting in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood left a 31-year-old man dead and two others hospitalized with serious injuries on Friday.
The Incident on West 75th Street
The shooting occurred shortly before 2 p.m. in the 300 block of West 75th Street. According to Chicago Police, a group of unknown offenders exited a sedan and opened fire toward a 31-year-old man.
The victim was struck multiple times by gunfire. He was rushed to a nearby hospital by emergency responders but was later pronounced dead.
Additional Victims Hospitalized
Two other men were caught in the gunfire and are currently listed in serious condition:
- A 40-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound to the flank.
- A 48-year-old man was shot in the leg.
Both victims are receiving treatment at area hospitals. Their identities have not yet been released.
Investigation and Scene Evidence
Police cordoned off a large section of the street for several hours on Friday afternoon as detectives collected evidence and searched for shell casings. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed to identify the sedan used by the offenders.
As of Friday night, authorities confirmed that no arrests have been made. Detectives are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack.
