Pregnant Teen Paralyzed In Toledo Snapchat Robbery Gone Wrong

TOLEDO, OH – An 18-year-old pregnant high school student has been left paralyzed after a robbery attempt turned violent during a meeting arranged through Snapchat near the University of Toledo campus.

The Incident on Greenway Avenue

The shooting occurred on Saturday when the victim, identified as Angel, and her boyfriend drove to a home on Greenway Avenue to meet an individual they connected with on social media.

According to Toledo Police reports, a man dressed entirely in black approached their vehicle, pointed a gun at the boyfriend’s head, and demanded money. A physical struggle ensued inside the car as the boyfriend attempted to disarm the suspect, causing the weapon to discharge.

Severe Injuries and Premature Labor

The single bullet struck Angel in her left arm, traveled through her side, and lodged in her chest. While the bullet narrowly missed her unborn child, it caused a severe spinal fracture at the 12th vertebrae, leaving the teen paralyzed.

The trauma of the attack also sent Angel, who is nearly six months pregnant, into premature labor. She remains hospitalized at 26 weeks pregnant, where doctors are continuously monitoring both her condition and the health of her baby.

Investigation and Community Support

Toledo Police have classified the incident as an armed robbery and shooting. No arrests have been announced so far, and detectives are actively investigating the suspect’s Snapchat profile and communication logs to generate leads.

Family members have set up a local crowdfunding campaign to assist with the mounting medical expenses and long-term care adaptations Angel will require before giving birth. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Toledo Police.
