Ms. Dahl has been in the Mineral Point district for 34 years and the principal for ten years. She went to UW Platteville as an undergrad, and for her master’s degree, she went to Edgewood College. Her career began as a PE teacher and health teacher in Shullsburg. She was there for about three and a half years and started as a long-term sub. She was offered a contract for a full-time job and then spent two years in Woodstock, Illinois. After that, she came to Mineral Point to be an athletic director.

As an athletic director, her favorite sport is football. She wanted to be principal because she had been working for the district for a while, and she had received her master’s degree in administration, and even though she was an athletic director, she wanted to do more. When Ms. Dahl was little, she always wondered why boys could play sports but girls couldn’t. Then Title IX came out, which said students couldn’t be prohibited from participating in a school program based on sex, so she could finally play. She played volleyball, basketball, and softball, and she was on the swim team. When Ms. Dahl was in high school, she had a basketball coach named Jeff Heible. He pushed her to become better and taught her all aspects of life.

When not at school, she says, “I would say I like to work out, I weight train, and I really enjoy swimming when I can, obviously more so during the summer out at the pool here, but I would say that’s what I enjoy. I like to cook and spend time with my family, especially my great niece and nephews.”
