Mineral Point took on the Darlington Red Birds on Friday, December 15, 2023. Both teams were undefeated coming into this game. Darlington started with a layup from Brady Long. But senior Landon Thousand answered with a 3-point bucket. It seemed like Thousand had an answer all night as he led the Pointers in scoring. After the win Thousand said, “The preparation before the game the whole week and trusting what we were taught and in our teammates, led to our success.” Thousand had the first 5 points for Pointers. The Pointers started with an 8-4 lead, but that was short-lived, as the Red Birds scored five unanswered points. The Pointers’ offense of rebounding led to a lot more opportunities, and the Pointers started getting hot as Jaxon Wendhauson knocked down a mid-range shot. The Pointers took the lead 17-11 from an and one by Brady Radtke. The Pointers continued scoring as Eli Lindsey knocked down a 3 to put the Pointers up 28-17. The Pointers ended the half up 35-19. In the second half, the Red Birds had no answer for Landon Thousand as he knocked down a 3 to go up 41-20. Thousand hit another field goal to go up 53-32, and from there on, it was all Pointers. The Pointers ended with a 75-58 win.
