Woman Hospitalized After Violent Downtown Long Beach Robbery

LONG BEACH, CA – A mother of two is facing a long road to recovery after being violently beaten and robbed outside a downtown Long Beach restaurant following a World Cup watch party.

Ambushed After World Cup Watch Party

The incident occurred just before 11:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18. Jennifer Silva, 34, was leaving a watch party at the Hooters restaurant located at 90 Aquarium Way when an unknown suspect ambushed her from behind.

The attacker grabbed her purse, saying, “I’m going to need that,” before repeatedly punching Silva in the face until she fell to the ground. The suspect then fled the scene with her belongings.

Severe Injuries and Lack of Help

Silva reported that despite crowds being present in the busy downtown area, no witnesses stepped in to intervene or call emergency services.

Disoriented and bleeding, Silva wandered near the Aquarium of the Pacific for approximately 30 minutes before Long Beach police officers spotted her. She was rushed to a local hospital with severe injuries, including:

  • Multiple fractures in her upper jaw
  • Loss of several teeth
  • A fractured finger and dislocated wrist
  • Extensive cuts and bruising across her body

Silva will require reconstructive jaw surgery, extensive dental rehabilitation, and is expected to be out of work for months.

Investigation Underway

The attacker remains at large. The Long Beach Police Department (LBPD) has not yet released a suspect description, and the case remains under active investigation.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the assault or who has any information to contact the LBPD at 562-570-7260.
