Juvenile Charged With Murder In Death Of 4-Month-Old Infant

CLAREMONT, CA – A juvenile has been formally charged with murder following the tragic death of a 4-month-old infant who was severely injured inside a Claremont home.

The Incident and Emergency Response

On June 29, just after 11:30 a.m., Claremont Police officers responded to a medical emergency at a residence in the 1400 block of Lynoak Drive.

Upon arrival, investigators determined that a juvenile inside the home had allegedly thrown the infant to the floor. The baby girl, identified by authorities as Troy May Elaine Cohn of Pomona, suffered severe injuries.

Medical Treatment and Arrest

The infant was initially rushed to Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center before being transferred to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County due to the critical nature of her injuries. Despite medical efforts, the 4-month-old later passed away.

The juvenile suspect was taken into custody by officers directly at the scene and was initially booked at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall on suspicion of murder.

Legal Proceedings Underway

Following a thorough review by the Claremont Police Department, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office officially filed one count of murder against the suspect.

The juvenile was arraigned in Pomona Superior Court and has been ordered to remain held in custody. Due to the suspect’s age, state law prohibits authorities from releasing his identity or further personal details.
