Girlfriend Found Dead in Dumpster, Illinois Man Now Facing Murder Charge

Elk Grove Village, Illinois — A 54-year-old Illinois man is facing a murder charge after authorities say his girlfriend was found dead inside a dumpster outside a suburban Chicago hotel.

Arturo F. Taylor of Fox Lake has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his girlfriend, 50-year-old Colleen Bagley.

The charge was approved on Feb. 27 by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, according to a statement from the Elk Grove Village Police Department.

Body Found in Hotel Dumpster

Police said officers responded to a hotel on Landmeier Road around 4:18 a.m. on Feb. 25 after receiving a report of an unresponsive person.

When officers arrived, they discovered Bagley’s body inside a dumpster outside the hotel.

Authorities later confirmed the identity of the victim through the medical examiner’s office.

Investigators ruled the death a homicide caused by multiple sharp force injuries, according to police.

Prosecutors Say Argument Led to Deadly Attack

Authorities allege the killing happened after an argument between Taylor and Bagley inside their hotel room.

According to prosecutors cited by the Chicago Tribune, Taylor allegedly stabbed Bagley multiple times during the dispute.

Security footage reportedly captured Taylor around 2 a.m. walking toward the dumpsters carrying a garbage bag, investigators said.

Police believe the footage helped establish the timeline of events leading up to the discovery of the victim.

Family Mourns Unexpected Loss

Bagley’s brother, Jason Ehardt, told the Chicago Tribune that Taylor had been in a relationship with his sister.

He described the loss as sudden and deeply painful.

“I wish we had more time together,” Ehardt said. “I’m gonna miss her.”

Family members said the tragedy came as a shock.

Police Say Incident Appears Isolated

Authorities say the investigation indicates the killing was an isolated incident.

“Evidence indicates this was an isolated incident with no ongoing threat to the community,” the Elk Grove Village Police Department said in a statement.

Officials also extended condolences to Bagley’s family and loved ones.

Legal Proceedings Ahead

It remains unclear whether Taylor has entered a plea in the case or obtained legal representation.

If convicted of first-degree murder in Illinois, the charge carries the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.

The investigation remains ongoing as prosecutors prepare for upcoming court proceedings.
