PHILADELPHIA, PA – A massive two-alarm fire erupted at a Kensington commercial garage early Friday morning, forcing nearby evacuations as intense flames tore through the building’s roof and windows.
Early Morning Blaze
The fire broke out around 4:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22, near the busy intersection of E Street and Kensington Avenue.
Responding firefighters encountered heavy fire and thick, billowing smoke shooting from the structure. Aerial footage from the scene showed crews pouring thick torrents of water into the building in an aggressive effort to contain the flames.
Evacuations Ordered
As the fire intensified and threatened neighboring structures, officials ordered the immediate evacuation of nearby properties at around 5:30 a.m.
