OAK BROOK, IL – Chicago’s iconic Mag Mile destination, The Purple Pig, has officially expanded to the western suburbs, bringing a massive new location to Oak Brook Center.
Known for its signature “cheese, swine, and wine” mantra since 2009, this second location at 15 Oak Brook Center represents a more spacious, grown-up evolution of the downtown original.
A Major Upgrade In Scale
The new Oak Brook location is roughly three times larger than the Michigan Avenue flagship. The sprawling suburban space features:
- An all-day café and a fresh bakery
- A dedicated house-made pasta station
- A live wood-fire cooking setup (a feature not possible in their downtown high-rise home)
New Menu Leans Italian
While downtown favorites like the crispy pig’s ear salad, chicken thigh kebabs, and milk-braised pork shoulder made the trip west, the Oak Brook menu brings plenty of new additions.
Acclaimed chefs Tony and Cathy Mantuano have returned to the Chicagoland culinary scene to lead the kitchen after a five-year stint in Nashville. Under their direction, the expanded menu features a heavy rotation of seasonal produce and a distinct Italian influence.
The Return Of A Chicago Icon
For local foodies, the biggest surprise is the return of a legendary dish. The Mantuanos’ former Michelin-starred downtown restaurant, Spiaggia, closed its doors in 2021.
However, its most famous dish—the iconic Spiaggia gnocchi—has officially made its triumphant return to the Chicagoland area, exclusively on the menu at the new Oak Brook location.
