Teen Arrested After Alleged Assault At Cedar Point Amusement Park

SANDUSKY, OH – An 18-year-old Michigan man faces multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a transgender woman and leading police on a foot chase through the Cedar Point parking lot on Monday, May 25.

The Incident on the Midway

According to the Sandusky Police Department, the incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the front exit of the amusement park. A witness reported that the group had just finished riding a roller coaster when a male suspect approached a transgender woman from behind.

Police reports state the suspect pulled down the victim’s clothing, exposing her in front of a crowd that included several young children. The victim’s friends immediately flagged down park security and local authorities.

Parking Lot Police Chase

The suspect, identified as Marquez Williams, allegedly fled from responding officers, weaving through rows of cars in the main parking lot to evade capture.

After refusing multiple orders to stop, a Sandusky police officer deployed a taser to subdue Williams. While waiting for medical clearance at the scene, a large crowd gathered and became aggressive toward the police, requiring backup units to secure the area. Williams was treated for minor scrapes before being transported to jail.

Legal Charges and Recovery

Williams was booked into the Erie County Jail and faces several charges, including:

  • Public Indecency
  • Disorderly Conduct
  • Resisting Arrest
  • Obstructing Official Business

A court hearing for Williams was scheduled for Wednesday, June 3, at the Sandusky Municipal Court.

Friends of the victim stated that while the unprovoked attack left her deeply shaken and hesitant to leave her hotel for the remainder of her vacation, she is now recovering at home surrounded by a strong support system.
