MERCER ISLAND, Washington — A Washington community is grieving the loss of a beloved high school athlete after a tragic lacrosse accident claimed the life of a teenage student days after he was injured during a recruiting event.

Tragic Injury Occurred During Recruiting Event
According to school officials, Abramson was participating in a college lacrosse recruiting event held at Islander Stadium on Mercer Island when the incident occurred.
His mother, Jessica Abramson, said the injury happened during an evening game on June 1 when a lacrosse ball struck him in the back of the neck, just below his helmet. What initially appeared to be a routine play quickly turned into a medical emergency.
A firefighter attending the event immediately stepped in to provide life-saving assistance, helping maintain Abramson’s heartbeat until emergency responders arrived.
He was then transported to Harborview Medical Center, where doctors fought to save his life over the following six days.
Despite those efforts, Abramson passed away surrounded by family and loved ones.
