COLTON, CA – A 64-year-old local resident lost his life Wednesday afternoon after crashing into the back of a public transit bus in San Bernardino County.
The Fatal Collision
The accident occurred just after 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10. Colton Police were dispatched to the intersection of South Mt. Vernon Avenue and Centerpoint Drive, where a Lincoln Town Car had slammed into the rear of an OmniTrans bus.
Authorities confirmed that the bus was stationary at the time, waiting at a red light.
Victim Identified
The driver of the Lincoln, identified by officials as Tracy Lee Stuart, 64, of Colton, suffered fatal injuries from the impact. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
The OmniTrans bus driver escaped the crash without injuries. While several passengers onboard the bus reported minor injuries, all of them declined transportation to local hospitals.
Police Appeal for Witnesses
The exact circumstances that led up to the deadly crash remain under active investigation. Colton police are trying to determine if medical distress, distraction, or mechanical failure played a role.
