CUTLER BAY, FL – A tragic early-morning collision on Florida’s Turnpike has left one man dead and caused significant traffic gridlock for Monday commuters in Miami-Dade County.
The Incident
According to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident occurred at approximately 4:25 a.m. in the northbound lanes near mile marker 12, close to the exit for Caribbean Boulevard (U.S. 1) and the Government Center.
Investigators report that a Suzuki motorcycle collided with a red Nissan sedan. The impact was severe enough to eject the motorcyclist from his vehicle. FHP confirmed that the man fell onto the roadway and tragically succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The crash forced authorities to shut down all northbound lanes of the Turnpike for several hours as investigators worked the scene and crews cleared debris.
