SANTA ANA, CA – A 27-year-old Westminster resident was arrested after a wild World Cup celebration escalated into an illegal street takeover, causing thousands of dollars in damage to a local intersection.
Social Media Footage Leads to Arrest
The incident occurred on Wednesday night following Mexico’s 3-0 World Cup victory over Czechia. Videos of the chaotic celebration quickly circulated on social media, catching the attention of the Santa Ana Police Department.
Investigators used the viral footage to identify the vehicle involved. Armed with an arrest warrant, officers took David Martin, 27, into custody. Police allege Martin was behind the wheel during the reckless driving exhibition.
