Three Hospitalized Following Daytime Stabbing In Chicago Loop

CHICAGO, IL – A violent chain of events in the Chicago Loop left three people hospitalized Friday afternoon after an instance of “unwanted contact” escalated into a double stabbing on a busy sidewalk.

The Initial Encounter

According to the Chicago Police Department, the incident began around 4:00 p.m. near North State Street and East Lake Street.

A 24-year-old woman was walking along the sidewalk when a 31-year-old man made “unwanted contact” with her. Authorities initially classified the encounter as a sexual assault.

Altercation Turns Violent

Following the encounter, a 25-year-old man stepped in, leading to a physical fight with the 31-year-old suspect.

The situation turned critical when a 36-year-old woman drew a knife and intervened. Police report that she stabbed the 31-year-old man in his right eye and slashed the 25-year-old man across his left wrist.

Emergency Response and Investigation

Paramedics rushed both men and the 36-year-old woman to local hospitals for treatment. The 24-year-old female victim refused emergency medical care at the scene.

Officers quickly cordoned off the busy intersection, stretching crime scene tape across North State Street for several hours during the peak evening commute. The exact charges against the involved individuals have not yet been released as detectives continue their investigation.
