SAN JOSE, CA – A mystery continues to surround the deaths of an MMA fighter and a mother of two after their bodies were discovered inside a parked car at a San Jose State University parking garage.
The Discovery
The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victims as Angelo Henry, 36, and Deziree Auelua-Misa, 30. Both were natives of Seaside in Monterey County.
The incident unfolded on the afternoon of May 23 inside the university’s West Garage, located at the corner of South Fourth and East San Salvador streets. University police noted that the vehicle had been spotted earlier in the day, but officers initially assumed the occupants were simply sleeping.
Authorities were only alerted after the pair remained motionless for several hours. Officers attempted life-saving measures, but both individuals were pronounced dead at the scene.
Victims Remembered by Community
Both victims were parents and active members of their local communities:
- Angelo Henry: Well-known in the local combat sports community as both a mixed martial arts fighter and a fight promoter.
- Deziree Auelua-Misa: Worked as a food and beverage manager at a local hotel and leaves behind two children.
A community fundraiser organized by Auelua-Misa’s family has already raised over $24,000 to help support her children during this transition.
Investigation Remains Open
More than a month after the grim discovery, authorities are continuing to keep the official causes of death under wraps. San Jose State University Police and the medical examiner’s office have not released any details regarding potential foul play, overdose, or environmental factors.
The investigation remains active, and officials are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle or activity in the West Garage on May 23 to come forward.
