ELGIN, IL – An active investigation is underway after detectives recovered a woman’s body from the Fox River on Sunday afternoon, according to the Elgin Police Department.
Discovery Near Kimball Street Bridge
Elgin Police Department detectives located the body at approximately 3:51 p.m. in the river, just north of the Kimball Street Bridge.
Following the discovery, emergency responders from the Elgin Fire Department and officials from the Kane County Coroner’s Office were called to the scene to assist with the recovery operation.
Identity Withheld Pending Investigation
Authorities have confirmed that information regarding the woman’s identity is currently being withheld. The Kane County Coroner’s Office is working to make a formal identification and determine the exact cause of death.
Police personnel and forensic investigators remained at the scene for several hours on Sunday evening collecting evidence.
