Dr. Ernest G. Ovitz-Class of 1905

Ernest Ovitz, a 1905 graduate of Mineral Point High School,  received his pre-med education at the University of Illinois while on a baseball scholarship.  While playing for the University of Illinois, the Fighting Illini won two Big Ten Titles.  He would later pitch for the Chicago Cubs.  Dr. Ovitz earned his medical degree from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois.    An avid sportsman, Dr. Orvitz chose to live and practice in an area where there were ample hunting and fishing opportunities.  Dr. Ernest Ovitz lived in the area of Laona, Wisconsin for over 66 years, serving as a country doctor for over 32 years.
