PHILADELPHIA — An 18-year-old pregnant woman was fatally shot in Philadelphia, and her boyfriend is now facing criminal charges in connection with her death, according to authorities.

Police say Lemmarra Bradshaw, 18, was allegedly shot by her boyfriend, Robert Tatum, 29, during an incident that occurred on March 9.

Bradshaw, who was pregnant with her second child at the time, leaves behind a 4-year-old daughter, family members said.

Boyfriend Faces Manslaughter Charges

Court records show Tatum has been charged with:

  • Voluntary manslaughter
  • Possessing an instrument of crime with intent
  • Recklessly endangering another person

Investigators say the shooting occurred following an argument between the couple.

According to reports, Tatum claimed that Bradshaw approached him with a knife and a screwdriver before he fired the weapon.

Authorities have not publicly confirmed further details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

Family Alleges History of Abuse

Bradshaw’s family says the young woman had experienced abuse during her relationship with Tatum.

Her aunt told local reporters that the couple had a troubled relationship leading up to the fatal incident.

“He punched her in her face like two weeks ago,” the aunt said. “He manipulated her. He’s always in a jealous rage.”

Family members believe the ongoing conflict between the couple contributed to the tragedy.

Argument Reportedly Happened Before Shooting

According to reports, the couple had been arguing the night Bradshaw was killed.

Some accounts suggest the dispute involved a hamster that Bradshaw’s mother had bought for her daughter, while relatives believe the argument may have been related to allegations of infidelity.

Authorities have not confirmed what ultimately led to the confrontation.

Family Devastated by Loss

Bradshaw’s mother, Michelle Adekola, said the loss has left the family heartbroken.

“I feel like I didn’t protect her enough to let this man kill my daughter,” Adekola said. “It makes me feel broken inside.”

The young woman’s death has deeply affected her family and community.

Community Mourning Teen and Unborn Child

In an online fundraiser created to support the family, relatives described Bradshaw’s death as an unimaginable loss.

“Her death has left a deep and painful void in the hearts of everyone who loved her,” the family wrote.

They added that the loss of both Bradshaw and her unborn child has devastated loved ones.

“The loss of both Lemmarra and her unborn baby has devastated our family and our community.”
