Iowa County Fair Review

Iowa County Fair Review

Over this Labor Day weekend, the Iowa County Fair held its annual fair week.  The Iowa County Fair initially was held in Dodgeville, Wisconsin in 1851. In 1856 they started holding it in Mineral Point where it is still held today.  Iowa County is known for pulling in people from all over from the midway, events at the grandstands, and the animals that many locals show.  This year, Badgerland Midway sponsored the fairground midway rides and food.

The most popular rides this year were the Bullet and the Tilt-a-Whirl. The best places to eat were the cheese curds stand, and Jose’s food truck. Additional fan favorites of food choices were french fries, cotton candy, and funnel cakes.  Some events that were held at the grandstands were the Wilmra Lawnmower Races, Tristate Truck and Tractor Pullers, and the most popular Demolition Derby.  This year, the Iowa County Fair held two new grandstand events, Bullriding, and Calf roping rodeos.  When looking at the grandstand capacity, it is very obvious that the Demolition Derby is the event that fills the bleachers up.
