Mineral Point Volleyball kicked off their season last Thursday with a win against Fennimore. Nerves were high as it was the first game of the season, but they came out strong with a 25-14 win in the first set. They lost momentum and energy and took the loss in the second set. They then came out strong in the next two sets to take the overall win.
Last night, the Pointers took on the Iowa Grant Panthers. After getting the first game out of the way, the Pointers were confident and brought it on the court. The first set resulted in a 25-15 win for the Pointers. During the second and third sets the Pointers dominated, ending in scores of 25-10 and 25-9. The stats leader in kills was Laci Lindsey with 9 kills. Coach Kari Kabat had this to say, “Laci Lindsey really came on strong late in game 3 and started thumping the ball. It is great to see her growth, and we are excited for her to continue to excel.” Coach Kabat also reported that she was incredibly impressed with the performance of Maddy Kabat all around, but especially in the back-row as she led in stats with 15 digs.
Tomorrow, the Mineral Point Pointers will take on the Darlington Redbirds on Darlington’s home court.
