The Mineral Point Varsity Volleyball team, coached by Kari and Mike Kabat and assisted by Amanda Ingwell and Nicole Mitchell, had fought and remained undefeated after a hard-fought win against the Southwestern Wildcats. Mineral Point Volleyball remained undefeated in conference play with a record of 12-0 and was also recognized as SWAL Conference Champions for the second year in a row.

The game against Southwestern started off with the five senior players being recognized for their long ride throughout the last four years as part of the Mineral Points Volleyball team. Seniors include the two captains Malea Aschliman and Bre Goninen; Madisyn Heim; Morgan Lee; and Rori Bossert. The five seniors received a starting spot on senior night, starting with junior Eliza Ingwell serving. She made one in starting the game off right for the Pointers.

The Pointers fought with everything they had Thursday night versus the Southwestern Wildcats, ending the night with a 25-20 win in the first set, the second set the Pointers fell five points short with a 20-25 point loss. In the third set Sophomore Maddy Kabat led the team with four digs followed by Junior Eliza Ingwell with two as well, the two girls helped their team out leading them to a 25-10 point victory. Set four brought lots of energy to the girls, not only on the court but on the bench filled with amazing teammates and also in Mineral Point’s student section. Senior Bre Goninen had an amazing game leading with 18 digs, followed by Maddy Kabat with 15 digs and kills in the fourth set. Mineral Point’s Volleyball team showed the real definition of Pointer spirit and won the set 25-14.

Thursday night’s game against the Wildcats not only held on to the conference record of 12-0 for the team, but also gave the Pointers the title of conference champs. The team’s hard work and dedication has paid off and they proudly accepted the well-deserved award. It is surely a testament to their talent and teamwork.
