Chicago, Illinois – Fast-food giant McDonald’s is preparing to roll out a new round of value deals aimed at attracting customers who are feeling the pressure of rising living costs and inflation.

According to reports, the company plans to introduce a new $3 value menu along with $4 breakfast meal deals starting next month, part of a broader effort to regain its reputation as an affordable option for diners across the United States.

The initiative, reportedly referred to internally as “McValue 2.0,” is designed to bring back customers who have become more cautious about spending due to higher prices in recent years.

McDonald’s plans to introduce new deals focused on affordability, including a menu featuring items priced at $3 or less.

New $3 Menu and $4 Breakfast Deal Expected in April

Under the upcoming plan, customers will be able to purchase several popular menu items at lower prices.

The $4 breakfast meal deal is expected to include a combination of items such as:

  • An Egg McMuffin
  • A hash brown
  • A coffee

Meanwhile, the $3-and-under value menu could include items like:

  • A sausage biscuit
  • A 4-piece Chicken McNuggets

The new value menu will replace the chain’s buy-one-add-one-for-a-dollar deal introduced in 2025.

Company leaders believe the updated deals will make the menu simpler while providing clearer value options for customers.

Company Responds to Inflation Concerns

The push for lower-priced items comes after years of price increases across the fast-food industry following the COVID-19 pandemic.

Many customers have noticed higher menu prices, which has led some diners to reduce how often they visit fast-food chains.

McDonald’s executives say the new value offerings are intended to address those concerns and keep the brand competitive.

“We absolutely are going to make sure that we are protecting our leadership position in value,” CEO Chris Kempczinski said during a recent investor call.

The company hopes the new promotions will encourage more customers to return to restaurants.

McDonald’s Working to Rebuild Its Affordable Image

Over the past few years, McDonald’s has taken several steps to restore its reputation as a low-cost dining option.

In 2024, the company introduced $5 meal deals, which included combinations of popular menu items at discounted prices.

Then in January 2025, the chain launched another promotion allowing customers to add a $1 item, such as a double cheeseburger or sausage biscuit, when purchasing a full-priced item.

Despite these efforts, surveys show that some customers still view the brand as less affordable than it once was.

A market research survey found that 21% of consumers described McDonald’s as affordable last year, up slightly from 18% the previous year.

However, this is still far below earlier perceptions of value. A separate consumer survey from 2014 found about 50% of customers considered McDonald’s a good value.

Franchise Owners Support the New Plan

Before launching the new value menu, McDonald’s leadership consulted with its network of franchise owners.

According to the company, franchise operators were given the opportunity to provide feedback and vote on the plan.

McDonald’s said franchise groups approved the new McValue plan with unanimous alignment.

Restaurant operators will still have some flexibility in setting prices depending on their local markets.

The company is expected to begin training restaurant staff on the new promotions in the coming weeks ahead of the official launch.

Strong Sales Performance Despite Price Concerns

Even as the company works to rebuild its value image, McDonald’s has recently reported strong financial performance.

The company said global same-store sales increased by 5.7% during the October–December quarter, surpassing analysts’ expectations.

Limited-time promotions helped boost traffic during that period, including the return of the popular Monopoly promotion in October and a holiday-themed Grinch promotion in December.

Executives say the new value menu could help sustain that momentum by bringing in more budget-conscious customers.
