NEW IBERIA, La. — Authorities are searching for a vehicle involved in a fatal hit-and-run crash that killed a New Iberia man, according to Louisiana State Police.
Troopers said the crash happened along Louisiana Highway 86 near Suard Road. The incident claimed the life of Russell Green, 66, a lifelong resident of New Iberia.
What investigators know so far
Louisiana State Police began investigating the case around 10:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle. Officials said Green was walking along Highway 86 when he was hit by an unknown vehicle traveling in an unknown direction.
After the collision, the driver fled the scene without stopping to render aid or contact emergency services.
Investigators believe the crash occurred sometime between approximately 10:40 p.m. the night before and the time authorities were notified the following morning.
