Mrs. Grutz
Mrs. Grutz is a very creative, outgoing, and fun teacher and coach. I got to sit down and interview Ms. Grutz and here is what she had to say.
What is one thing you wish you had done differently growing up?
That’s a tricky one. One thing I wish I would have done differently when growing up would be to realize that I could reach out to more people and gain more friends that weren’t just in my close circle. So maybe be more open. Not that I wasn’t friendly to everyone, but I would sit with anybody and kind of try to build relationships anywhere in my life.
Do you think anybody could’ve helped you with that goal?
Oh, I think if like others around me would have known it, I think others would have been more accepting of everyone around me. So that’s a good question.
Where did you go to college?
I went to college at UW Whitewater for my undergrad degree and my master’s degree.
And what is your favorite memory or memories from college?
I was in a sorority in college. And my favorite memory is probably when my little sister was in my sorority, that’s like one of my favorite memories.
Why did you want to be a teacher?
My mom and dad were both teachers. So I always wanted to be in other high schools. I was a teacher’s assistant for little kids in school, and I just liked kids.
Have you always wanted to be a teacher since you were a little kid?
Yeah, but I didn’t go to college to be a teacher. I went to college to be a speech therapist, like a speech teacher. But I changed my mind because I did not like it my senior year. So I got my master’s degree in teaching and became a teacher.
What is one big goal you still want to accomplish?
I want to have a family and a lovely house.
When do you think you can reach that goal and who can help you achieve that goal?
I think Mr. Grutz can help me with this goal, and I think this can be accomplished in five years.
What are you looking forward to in the future?
Hopefully, the volleyball girls are going to state in the near future. I am getting married soon. And I love Mineral Point. So I’m looking forward to getting a house, that kind of thing, and just keep on teaching and enjoying everyone around me.
