RIVERSIDE, CA – A 19-year-old San Bernardino man is behind bars on a murder charge after authorities say he intentionally drove a vehicle into a crowd following a party, killing a woman and injuring four others.
Fatal Altercation on Franklin Avenue
The incident occurred shortly before 12:40 a.m. on May 24 in the 3500 block of Franklin Avenue, located in Riverside’s Eastside neighborhood.
According to the Riverside Police Department, the suspect, Brian Sandoval, had attended a “flyer party” in the area that was shut down by police earlier that evening. Following the shutdown, a robbery and an altercation broke out in the street. During the fight, Sandoval allegedly used his vehicle as a weapon to deliberately strike multiple people.
Casualties Reported
Responding officers arrived to find several victims on the ground.
- Fatalities: 20-year-old Daisy Sandoval of San Bernardino was pronounced dead at the scene.
- Critical Injuries: Two victims were rushed to area hospitals in critical condition.
- Serious Injuries: Two additional individuals sustained serious injuries.
Suspect Detained on $1 Million Bail
Brian Sandoval was detained by officers directly at the scene. He was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of murder and is currently being held on $1 million bail.
