Storm Chances Stay High Across Maryland Through Midweek, Forecasters Warn of Dense Fog

Baltimore, Maryland — Maryland residents will have to endure a few more days of unsettled weather as scattered rain showers, thunderstorms and dense fog continue impacting much of the state through midweek.

Forecasters say the gloomy weather pattern that settled across the Mid-Atlantic during the middle of last week is expected to linger for several more days before drier conditions finally arrive later this week.

Rain and Fog Continue Across Maryland Tonight

Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected to continue developing through sunset, particularly in areas south of Baltimore.

While the evening is not expected to become a complete washout, wet conditions will remain possible in several parts of Maryland.

Temperatures are forecast to stay relatively mild overnight, holding steady in the 60s after sunset.

Forecasters are also warning drivers to prepare for areas of fog developing late Monday night into early Tuesday morning.

In some locations, the fog could become dense enough to significantly reduce visibility.

Meteorologists say visibility may fall below one-half mile in certain spots early Tuesday morning, potentially creating hazardous travel conditions for commuters.

Residents are being advised to allow extra travel time and use caution on the roads during the early morning hours.

More Storms Expected Tuesday and Wednesday

The unsettled weather pattern is expected to continue into the workweek, with additional rounds of showers and storms forecast for both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tuesday morning will begin mild, with temperatures once again in the 60s and lingering fog possible in several areas.

By the afternoon, temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 70s and lower 80s, creating favorable conditions for scattered storms to develop.

Forecasters say some of the stronger storms may produce brief heavy rainfall and frequent lightning.

Although not everyone will see severe weather, isolated downpours could temporarily impact travel and outdoor activities.

Wednesday’s forecast is expected to closely resemble Tuesday’s conditions.

The day will begin with more fog before temperatures warm toward 80 degrees, triggering another round of scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms.

Meteorologists caution that any storm that develops during the midweek period could produce bursts of heavy rain.

Weather Pattern Finally Begins to Improve

After several gloomy days, forecasters say relief is finally on the horizon.

The overall chance of rain is expected to decrease significantly by Thursday as the slow-moving weather front begins shifting away from the region.

Only isolated showers or a spotty thunderstorm are currently expected Thursday afternoon.

Residents can also expect a bit more sunshine returning to the forecast, along with temperatures once again reaching the upper 70s and lower 80s.

The improving conditions are expected to continue into the weekend.

Much Better Weekend Forecast Ahead

Following a rainy and dreary Memorial Day weekend, weather conditions across Baltimore and the surrounding Mid-Atlantic region are expected to become much more pleasant by Friday.

Forecasters are currently predicting dry and seasonable conditions Friday through Sunday, making for a far more favorable outdoor forecast.

Morning temperatures will begin in the 50s, while daytime highs are expected to settle comfortably in the 70s.

In addition to the sunshine, meteorologists say residents can also look forward to low humidity and a pleasant breeze, offering a welcome break from the recent stretch of damp and stormy weather.
