RICHARDSON, TX – A local Richardson bar, Good Vibes, reopened its doors on Friday, just days after a violent attack left a bartender and three regular customers seriously injured.
A Heroic Intervention
The incident occurred Wednesday night when 28-year-old Stephen Kwembe entered the establishment and allegedly attacked the bartender, known as Fefe, with a knife. According to manager Nico Otero, surveillance footage shows three customers—Harrold Stemper, Reuben Blackwell, and Garret Ledger—immediately jumping in to protect her.
Otero credited the “best regulars” for their heroic efforts, noting that their intervention likely prevented further tragedy. The entire attack inside the bar lasted only 45 seconds.
The Suspect and Standoff
Prior to the attack, Kwembe reportedly called a non-emergency dispatch line, threatening to kill as many people as possible. Following the stabbings, Richardson Police confronted Kwembe outside the bar. The suspect was shot and killed during the ensuing standoff with officers.
Despite some claims of a motive, management stated they had never seen the suspect before and described the attack as a random act of violence.
Road to Recovery
While the bar has reopened, the community remains focused on the victims’ long recovery process:
- Reuben Blackwell & Harrold Stemper: Both remain sedated and face further surgeries.
- Garret Ledger: Has been moved out of the ICU.
- Fefe: The bartender and mother is recovering from physical and emotional trauma.
Community Support
The Richardson community has rallied around the victims, organizing t-shirt sales, online fundraisers, and planning a benefit concert to help cover medical expenses.
Good Vibes management announced they are increasing security measures moving forward to ensure the safety of their staff and loyal patrons.
