The Pointer JV team hosted The Dodgeville Dodgers. It was a physical game as the Pointer defense played great and got out in passing lanes. The offense also played physical converting several and ones. Coach Jelly stated, “I like the way the defense has been playing. When someone gets beat it always seems like there is someone to help, and that has made our defense so successful. “

The Pointers Boys Basketball had their Varsity kick off the New Year with a bang, defeating Dodgeville after a grand display of hard work and prowess, for both sides actually. But nevertheless, Mineral Point still came out on top and beat them 60-51. When it comes down to major player contributions for the game, we’ve got Liam Stumpf seizing 17 points and 6 rebounds, Dominik McVay snatching 15 points and 7 rebounds, Joah Filardo grabbing 10 points and 4 rebounds, and Leyton Bowers with 9 points and 6 rebounds. A pretty impressive display of teamwork all around I would say. The game may have started somewhat slow in comparison to later on, but things definitely picked up around the second half as Dominik McVay heated up with a couple big threes.  Dominik’s favorite moment was how the team came out strong in the second half to take the lead. They never looked back even with all the crazy offensive fouls. They’ll have another opportunity for domination on Monday when they face Belleville at home. Let’s see them pull off another one!
