On Friday night, the Pointer football team dropped the ball in their first conference game against the Darlington Redbirds 7-42. When asked about the game, senior running back Dominik Mcvay said, “It was not okay.” The Pointers’ play was rough out of the gates, and they were down 22-0 halfway through the second quarter. The Pointers had a  moment right before halftime with a connection between senior quarterback Joah Filardo and Dominick McVay for an 87-yard touchdown. After the eventful play, the Pointers failed to get anything churning on offense for the rest of the game. The Pointers look forward to bouncing back this Friday in their season home opener against Black Hawk. In other football news, the Pointer JV team will take on the Redbirds at home on Tuesday, September 7th, at 5:00 p.m.
