Unfortunately, the Mineral Point volleyball team lost to the Cuba City Cubans last night. The JVR team lost to Cuba City in three close and intense sets. The girls ended up losing in the first set, 27-29 in overtime. They then fell short of the Cubans in the second and third set with scores of 24-26 and 11-15. Then, the JV Pointers played and ended up losing a close first set 23-25. Following that, they lost the second and third sets with scores of 18-25 and 8-15. After the JV game, the varsity girls took on the Cubans. Although it was a hard-fought battle, they lost 0-3. The girls lost the first set 14-25, and they lost the second set 17-25. Despite the ample amount of rallies in the third set, the varsity girls lost 18-25. Senior Blair Watters says, “We played well overall, but it didn’t go our way. I think we should’ve talked to each other and covered tips more. We just need to keep our heads up and get the next one.” The Volleyball girls will be back at home and host Iowa Grant in a makeup game on Monday, September 13, with JV and JVR to play at 5:45 and Varsity to follow.
