Dodge Point United Boys Soccer continued their winning ways yesterday, decimating Jefferson early Saturday Morning. New faces made appearances on the scoresheet, with two primary defenders finding their way squarely in the attack. Dodgeville Sophomore Ben Haakenson scored a goal for Dodge Point, and Mineral Point Senior Hayden Bakken scored two of his own. While some defenders found the back of the net, they weren’t alone in their efforts. Forward Drew Hottenstein scored two goals for DP United, and Cooper Elsner and Owen McDonald scored one additional goal each. Another trend apparent when examining the final score in the 7-0 victory is the staunch defense of the Dodge Point squad. Discipline in 50/50 situations and a high display of defensive IQ while covering the pass lead to a shutout for Dodge Point. Saturday also featured the first win of the year for the JV squad in their six outings. The Dodge Point JV Boys shut out the Eagles, taking home the 8-0 victory (including goals from 6 separate players). The Varsity squad travels to Columbus on Monday for a battle with the Cardinals at 5:00. The JV Squad returns on Thursday, as both the JV and Varsity Squads host the Richland Center Hornets.
