Dodge Point United Soccer Takes Home Conference Title

October 5th

In last night’s thrilling match between the heavyweights of the Southwest Wisconsin Conference, Dodge Point United defeated the Platteville/Lancaster Hillmen by a final score of 4-3. After Platteville/Lancaster scored early, Dodge Point’s Owen McDonald leveled the score at 1-1. Beautiful passing led to a beautiful goal from Cooper Elsner, heading the ball in on a volley from Owen McDonald. However, a continuous position in the box led to an easy rebound shot for Platteville/Lancaster. Dodge Point opened the half with their third goal of the contest, followed by a screamer from Jared Wedig: a goal coming off of a free-kick from the midfield line. After Dodge Point Sophomore Ben Haakenson was shown the yellow card, the defense focused on sticking to their principles, only allowing one more goal. When the final whistle blew, DP United defeated Platteville/Lancaster by a final score of 4-3, taking home at least a share of the SWC Conference Title. The JV team defeated the Hillmen 2-0 in a shortened contest, with goals from Sam Klopp and Nolen Fox. Dodge Point looks to take sole control of the conference title next Tuesday in Richland Center.
